Fewjar (pronounced [ fju: ˈʤɑ: r ]) is a Berlin  music group consisting of Jakob Joiko, Felix Denzer and Andre Moghimi.

history

Fewjar was founded in winter 2009 by Felix Denzer and Jakob Joiko. They recorded their first songs together under the name Fewjar as a Christmas present for friends and family.

After a few minor appearances, the duo began writing the songs for their first official album, Journey Of Dam , in 2010 , which was a mixture of songs and radio play-like interludes. The album was released the following year. At the same time, the band began to document their creative process on the YouTube channel of the same name "Fewjar" in vlog form.

On September 13, 2013, the duo's second album called AFewSides was released.

After their debut appearance as the opening act at the Videodays 2014 in Cologne's Lanxess Arena , they played their first full-length concert on May 18, 2016 in the sold-out Bi Nuu in Berlin.

The third album Until was released on October 28, 2016 . For this album, the band's first Germany tour took place in November 2016 under the name Until -Tour, which was continued in four major German cities in spring 2017.

Andre Moghimi has officially been the third member of the band since December 15, 2017. On April 25, 2018, their first album as a trio, Gamma, was released . This was followed by a tour of the album and on September 24, 2018 the announcement of the Gamma - Aftermath Tour , which will start on December 18, 2018 and end on December 22, 2018 with its first international concert in Vienna.

On May 31, 2019, Fewjar released the album Blaues Licht , which is the soundtrack to the film of the same name by Sophie Sonntag and Rocco and his brothers . The film is a mockumentary about the subculture of graffiti artists. The cover of the soundtrack, which is a wild play of colors in shades of blue, is based on this.

style

The group classifies their own music under the self-created category of the "polygenre", which is an umbrella term for their many genres spanning, but mostly pop-oriented music. Over the years the band's style has developed in many directions; with each album different focuses can be identified.

While the debut album Journey of Dam was based close to metal , the style of the band with AFewSides increasingly developed into an electro-pop direction. The third album Until combined electro-pop with elements of progressive rock and 80s synth-pop .

In Journey of Dam and Until there are concept albums, each telling a coherent story. Journey of Dam tells this story with the help of spoken radio play interludes, Until completely dispenses with spoken passages and tells the story only through the songs.

Origin of name

The name of the project is made up of the names of the two founding members: Fe lix Denzer is the "Few" and Yes kob Joiko is the "Jar" from Fewjar. In addition, the sound of the name is reminiscent of the English term future (German: "future").

Live performances

In the summer of 2016 Fewjar played their first concert in the sold out Berlin club Bi Nuu. For this they put together a live band from Steven Schuto from the YouTube channel SpaceFrogs , Davis Schulz and Andre Moghimi, who at that time only acted as a live musician for the band. Tommy Blackout, who worked on the song Spam , also took part in the concert. They published videos of their first concert on their YouTube channel. At the end of 2016, they went on a tour of Germany with Davis Schulz, Michael Goldmann and Andre Moghimi, which was continued from April 2017.

The trio's main YouTube channel features making-ofs of their albums and music videos . They also upload so-called room sessions there, which are reinterpretations of their songs. The music videos of her other projects Mhokomo , consisting of Jakob Joiko and Andre Moghimi, and DNZR , Felix Denzer's solo project, are also published on this channel.

Worry sound

Music and concert reviews as well as vlogs can be found on the Sorgenschall channel. With this channel they also launched the Sorgenschall campaign, which was intended to increase sales of records. Another format on this channel is called Track of the Week in which you ask your friends what their favorite song of the week is. They also took part with their channel in the #NoHate campaign, which was launched by members of the 301+ association . They contributed several videos for this, for example a special edition of the track of the week called #NoHate - songs against a bad mood. The channel was discontinued on November 2, 2015.

Operation of the canal was resumed on April 30, 2018 with a different concept.
