Bullshit TV (formerly BullshitTehVau ), BSTV or Bulls for short, is a German-speaking comedy trio that has been publishing videos on the YouTube channel of the same name since 2010 . The comedy trio consists of the brothers C-Bas or Ceebas (Sebastian Meichsner) and Phil (Philipp Meichsner) and Chris ( Christos Manazidis ).
history
C-Bas and Chris met during their school days. The guys from Bullshit TV come from Hattingen , although Phil lived in Berlin for some time . Until 2016 they all lived together in one apartment in Cologne . C-Bas is a graduate economist, Chris and Phil are graphic designers .
Bullshit TV uploaded their first video on March 9, 2010, in which C-Bas parodies the style of YouTuber Sami Slimani , who was already very popular at the time, as "Mr. Schleimorial" . The addition of Chris to the team in autumn 2011 led to the broadening of the range of topics from YouTuber parodies to include more comedy formats and music parodies. In 2014 Bullshit TV won the “Y-Titty Takeover Battle” audience award. Between January 3rd and 9th, 2014 you took over the three channels from Y-Titty . As a video on the main channel Y-Titty, Bullshit TV published the video "Parents Everyone Knows" on January 3, 2014, which was viewed over 2.3 million times. At the “Videodays 2014” their appearance was celebrated by over 15,000 spectators in the Lanxess Arena in Cologne.
Between March 6 and September 24, 2014 Bullshit TV hosted the science channel “Big Bang” launched by Mediakraft. A spaceship backdrop of the so-called “Starship Observer”, which was unusually elaborate for YouTube productions, was specially made for the channel, but was no longer used in later episodes. While the idea and the implementation as well as the video technology of the new format were praised, the discrepancy between the style of the main channel and the relatively dry presentation of the new format was criticized.
At the beginning of 2015, YouTuber Jokah Tululu was regularly featured in her videos and was living in her shared apartment in Cologne - Müngersdorf at the time .
With the start of the 2015 Champions League season, the pay-TV channel Sky hired C-BAS as a social media commentator. Live appearances in the studio were supplemented by clips produced exclusively for the Champions League. With these formats, Sky intended to increasingly reach the very young target group for Champions League reporting. The direct integration of social media through the co-moderation of a YouTube star popular in the young target group was described as a TV innovation by the participating companies Sky and Mediakraft.
In summer 2016 they announced their own radio broadcast on 1Live . The show, entitled “1LIVE Bullshit Radio”, has been broadcast once a month on Thursdays at 7pm since July 14, 2016, making it the first regular radio show with the participation of German YouTubers.
channels
The three together run three channels on YouTube . The channels are part of the Divimove network .
Main channel
Their main channel is called Bullshit TV. As a rule, they publish their videos every Wednesday, which they call "Shit Week", and every Sunday. Videos of various categories are represented on this channel. According to their own statement, they produce videos with the following content: street comedy, pranks, parodies, rap battles, skits and music. They released the first video on March 9, 2010.
In spring 2015 the channel passed the 1 million subscriber mark. BullshitTV are among the top 100 of the most subscribed YouTubers in Germany. (As of January 6, 2020)
Second channel
On their second channel "IstJaNichtSchlimm" they upload videos that they say did not make it onto their first channel.
Third channel
On March 6, 2014, the makers of Bullshit TV uploaded a teaser on the “Big Bang” channel. This channel is about facts about the universe . The first video for the format was released on March 8, 2014, the last for the time being on September 24, 2014.
More channels
In addition to the three channels, Phil also runs his own channel called philbstv , on which he uploads Let's Plays . The channel was previously called "Krudde", but was later renamed due to dissatisfaction with the name and transferred to a different YouTube URL.
Formats
The videos have different content focuses or formats. The best-known formats include “people everyone knows”, in which stereotypes are satirically processed, and “WG Wars”, in which the three tried to trick each other with sometimes very elaborate jokes (“ pranks ”). The latter has been discontinued since the dissolution of their shared flat and was replaced by “Office Wars”, in which the same principle is continued in their new studio. A new format is the "Basechat Vera * sche" series. Usually another person (Nadiem) comes along, who then imitates a woman's voice and flirts with random callers.
Awards
In 2012, Bullshit TV won a Europe-wide YouTube competition. The aim of this was for the participants to develop a new format for their own channel. The prizes for first place were € 3,000, € 4,000 worth of video equipment and a trip to the YouTube Creator Space production studio in London.
On May 24, 2014, they won the 2014 Web Video Award in the “LOL” category . The award was presented in front of over 1,100 guests in the Düsseldorf Capitol Theater .
In 2015, alongside Joyce Ilg , they were nominated for the 1Live Krone in the Best Video category.
