Nayana James (born October 18, 1995 in Kozhikode , Kerala ) is an Indian long jumper .

Athletic career

Nayana James gained her first experience in international competitions at the 2017 Asian Championships in Bhubaneswar , where she won the bronze medal with 6.42 m behind the Vietnamese Bùi Thị Thu Thảo and her compatriot Neena Varakil . In addition, she was eliminated in the first round over 100 m hurdles in 14.45 s. In 2018 she took part in the Asian Indoor Championships in Tehran , where she won the silver medal in the long jump with a new indoor record of 6.08 minutes. At the beginning of April, she took part in the Commonwealth Games in the Australian Gold Coast for the first time , where she finished twelfth in the final with 6.14 m. At the end of August she also took part in the Asian Games in Jakarta , where she reached tenth place with 6.14 m.

James is a student at the University of Kerala .
