Neena Varakil gained her first experience in international competitions at the Asian Championships 2013 in Pune , where she finished tenth with 5.75 m. In 2014 she won the silver medal behind the Portuguese Evelise Veiga at the Jogos da Lusofonia in Goa with 5.66 m . In 2017 she again took part in the Asian Championships in Bhubaneswar and won the silver medal there with 6.54 m behind the equally wide Vietnamese Bùi Thị Thu Thảo . At the beginning of September she won the bronze medal at the Asian Indoor & Martial Arts Games in Ashgabat . In 2018 she took part in the Asian Indoor Championships in Tehran , where she won the bronze medal in the long jump with a new indoor record of 6.06 minutes. At the beginning of April, she took part in the Commonwealth Games in the Australian Gold Coast for the first time and finished tenth there with 6.19 m in the final. At the end of August she won the silver medal at the Asian Games in Jakarta with 6.51 m, again behind the Vietnamese Thảo.
In 2014, 2016 and 2017 Varakil became Indian champion in the long jump.
