Bùi Thị Thu Thảo (born April 29, 1992 in Hanoi ) is a Vietnamese long and triple jumper who started her career in the heptathlon .

Athletic career

Bùi Thị Thu Thảo gained her first experience in international competitions at the Junior Asian Championships 2010 in Hanoi , where she won the bronze medal in the heptathlon with 4170 points. In 2011 she finished fifth in the heptathlon and long jump at the Southeast Asian Games in Palembang . Two years later she won the bronze medal at the Southeast Asian Games in Naypyidaw with 6.14 m. In 2014 she took part in the Asian Games in Incheon , South Korea for the first time and won the silver medal behind Indonesian Maria Natalia Londa with 6.44 m . In 2015 she won the silver medal at the Southeast Asian Games in Singapore with 6.65 m, as well as at the Indoor Asian Championships in Doha in 2016 with 6.30 m behind Indian Mayookha Johny .

In 2017 she took part in the Asian Championships in Bhubaneswar , where she won the gold medal with 6.54 m in front of the two Indian women Neena Varakil and Nayana James . She also won the gold medal at the Southeast Asian Games in Kuala Lumpur with a new national record of 6.68 m. At the beginning of September she won the silver medal behind the Kazakh Olga Rypakowa at the Asian Indoor & Martial Arts Games in Ashgabat with 6.36 m . In 2018 she took part in the Asian Indoor Championships in Tehran , where she won the bronze medal in the triple jump with a new national record of 13.22 minutes and the gold medal in the long jump with 6.20 m. At the end of August she took part again in the Asian Games in Jakarta and won there with 6.55 m ahead of Varakil and the Chinese Xu Xiaoling . She also registered for the triple jump competition, but did not appear there at short notice.

In 2011, 2013, 2017 and 2019 Thảo became Vietnamese champion in the long jump and in 2017 also in the triple jump.
