Olga Rypakova ( Russian Ольга Сергеевна Рыпакова (Алексеева) ., English transcription Olga Sergeyevna Rypakova born Алексеева - Alexeyeva - Alekseyeva; * thirtieth November 1984 in Ust-Kamenogorsk ) is a Kazakh long jump and triple jump as well as former heptathlete . She has also been active as a politician since 2016.

Athletic career

She began her sporting career as a heptathlete and long jumper and took part in the long jump in 2000 at the Junior World Championships in Santiago de Chile , where she was eliminated with 5.63 m in qualification. A year later she was fourth in the heptathlon at the World Youth Championships in Debrecen . In 2002 she won the silver medal in the heptathlon at the Junior World Championships in Kingston behind the Swede Carolina Klüft . In 2003 she took part in the Summer Universiade in Daegu and reached eighth place in the heptathlon. Two years later she dropped out of the long jump qualification at the Student World Games in Izmir . At the Asian Championships in 2005 in Incheon she was fourth in the long jump and won the gold medal in the pentathlon at the Indoor Asian Games in Bangkok , as well as at the Indoor Asian Championships in 2006 in Pattaya . She qualified for the indoor world championships in Moscow , where she finished seventh and won gold in the heptathlon and bronze in the long jump at the Asian Games in Doha .

Since the 2007 season it has been limited to the two jumping disciplines. At the 2007 Asian Championships in Amman she won gold in the long and triple jump, at the Universiade in Bangkok gold in the long jump, and at the World Championships in Osaka she was eleventh in the triple jump.

In 2008 Rypakova came fourth in the triple jump at both the World Indoor Championships in Valencia and the Olympic Games in Beijing . After the Greek Chrysopigi Devetzi and Tatjana Lebedewa were disqualified for doping , Rypakova advanced to bronze at the World Indoor Championships and to silver at the Olympic Games. In the Olympic long jump competition she was eliminated with 6.30 m in the qualification.

In 2009 Rypakova took 10th place in the triple jump at the World Championships in Berlin and was again Asian champion in Guangzhou . At the Indoor Asian Games in Hanoi , she celebrated winning two gold medals. In 2010 she won the triple jump title at the World Indoor Championships in Doha and won gold in triple jump and silver in long jump at the Asian Games in Guangzhou. In 2011 Rypakova won the silver medal in the triple jump behind the Ukrainian Olha Saladucha at the World Championships in Daegu .

In 2012 she took part in the World Indoor Championships in Istanbul , where she won the silver medal behind Britain's Yamilé Aldama with 14.63 m . In the outdoor season Rypakova qualified again in the triple jump for the Olympic Games in London , where she won the gold medal in the final with 14.98 m. In 2013, due to the birth of her son, Rypakova did not contest international competitions. In 2014 she won the gold medal in the triple jump on her return at the Asian Games in Incheon .

In 2015 Rypakova won the bronze medal at the world championships in Beijing with 14.77 m in the final . The Israeli Hanna Knjasjewa-Minenko , who was lying in front of her, only jumped an inch further. In 2016 she won the gold medal in the triple jump and bronze in the long jump at the Asian Indoor Athletics Championships in Doha. At the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , Rypakova won the bronze medal with 14.74 m in the final behind the Colombian Caterine Ibargüen and the Venezuelan Yulimar Rojas , with whom she competed in all major international competitions in recent seasons.

Also in 2017 Rypakowa won the bronze medal at the World Championships in London behind Ibargüen and Rojas with 14.77 m . At the beginning of September she won the gold medal in both long and triple jump at the Asian Indoor & Martial Arts Games in Ashgabat . In 2018 she took part in the Asian Games for the fourth time in Jakarta , where she successfully defended her triple jump title with 14.26 m against Parinya Chuaimaroeng from Thailand . The following year she took part in the World Championships in Doha and was eliminated there with 14.09 m in qualification , before she then won the gold medal at the World Military Games in Wuhan with a distance of 14.19 m.

In 2012 and 2017, Olga Rypakowa won the overall ranking of the IAAF Diamond League . She was Kazakh champion in the long jump in 2005, 2007, 2011 and 2015, in the triple jump in 2007, 2011 and 2015 and in the heptathlon in 2006. In the hall she was national champion in the long jump in 2004, 2006 and 2010 and in 2010 and 2012 in the triple jump. Also in 2004 in the pentathlon. So far she has won eight titles outdoors and seven indoors.

Personal

Olga Rypakowa has been married to the former 400m runner Denis Rypakow , silver medalist at the 2003 Summer Universiade , since 2004, and has a daughter (* 2004) and a son (* 2013) with him. She completed a degree in coaching at the Kazakh Academy of Sport and Tourism in Almaty .

In 2016 she was elected to the parliament of the East Kazakhstan region .

The athletics center Öskemen (Ust-Kamenogorsk) is named after her and is run by her husband.
