Chrysopigí Devetzí ( Greek Χρυσοπηγή Δεβετζή , also Hrysopiyí Devetzí ; born January 2, 1976 in Alexandroupoli ) is a Greek long and triple jumper who won an Olympic silver medal in the triple jump in 2004.

Career

Chrysopigí Devetzí was a gymnast as a child and later turned to athletics. She has been active in the triple jump since 1992, and in 2001 she jumped over 14 meters for the first time. After a seventh place at the European Championships in 2002 and an eighth place at the World Championships in 2003 , 2004 was her most successful year.

At the World Indoor Championships in 2004 she won the bronze medal with 14.73 meters behind Russian Tatjana Lebedewa and Yamilé Aldama, who started for Sudan . In qualifying for the triple jump competition at the Olympic Games in Athens , she jumped the Greek national record with 15.32 meters. In the final she reached 15.25 meters and thus won the silver medal behind Françoise Mbango Etone from Cameroon (15.30 m). At the 2005 World Championships , Devetzí was fifth with 14.64 meters.

In the first attempt at the finals at the 2006 European Championships , she jumped 15.05 meters, but had to be satisfied with silver when Tatjana Lebedewa jumped on in the last attempt. In the long jump competition of these European Championships she finished tenth. At the 2007 World Championships , Devetzi won the bronze medal with 15.04 meters.

In 2008 she won silver at the World Indoor Championships in Valencia with 15.00 m and at the Olympic Games in Beijing she won the bronze medal again with a width of 15.23 meters behind Françoise Mbango Etone (15.39 meters) and Tatjana Lebedeva (15.32 meters). Both medals were later revoked.

Devetzi has a competition weight of 60 kg with a height of 1.70 m.

Doping offense

In May 2009, she refused a doping test and was banned for two years. In post- tests of her doping sample in 2008, she tested positive for stanozolol and subsequently disqualified in 2016.
