Yamilé Aldama (born August 14, 1972 in Havana ) is a British triple jumper of Cuban origin who was a Sudanese citizen from 2004 to 2010. She was indoor world champion in 2012.

As a teenager she was initially high jumper and then moved as they said not to be large enough for this discipline, the heptathlon . In 1994 she started with the triple jump. Two years later, she qualified for the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, but had to withdraw injured.

Her breakthrough came in 1999 when she won gold at the Pan American Games in Winnipeg with the national record of 14.77 meters and won the silver medal at the World Championships in Seville . After the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, where she finished fourth, she married the Scot Andrew Dodd and moved to London . In 2001 she gave birth to a boy.

Since she lived abroad, it was no longer possible for her to take part in international competitions for Cuba. When obtaining a British passport was delayed, she became a Sudanese citizen in 2004. The year before, she had set the current American record with 15.29 m.

In 2004 she won silver at the World Indoor Championships in Budapest , became African champion and set the current African record with 15.28 m. At the 2004 Olympic Games , she was injured on the fifth attempt and had to be satisfied with 14.99 m and fifth place.

At the 2005 World Championships in Helsinki she was fourth and at the 2006 World Indoor Championships in Moscow third. In the open air season she became African champion and reached third place in the World Cup . In 2007 Aldama won gold at the Africa Games . At the World Championships in Osaka, however, she failed in qualifying.

In 2008 Aldama was fifth at the World Indoor Championships and second at the African Championships . In Beijing, however, she failed to make a valid attempt at the Olympic Games . She also got stuck in qualifying at the 2009 World Championships and the 2010 World Indoor Championships .

In 2010, Aldama took British citizenship and the following year she finished fifth at the 2011 World Championships in Daegu. At the indoor world championships in 2012 she won with a width of 14.82 m. In London she finished fifth at the Olympic Games .

Yamilé Aldama is 1.73 m tall and weighs 62 kg.
