Wang Qingling's first international competition was the 2012 Junior World Championships in Barcelona , where she finished seventh with 5598 points. Two years later she won the Asian Indoor Championships in Hangzhou with 4246 points ahead of the Uzbek Yuliya Tarasova . In autumn she won the silver medal at the Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea with 5856 points and only had to admit defeat to the Uzbek Yekaterina Voronina . In 2015 she took part in the Asian Championships in her home town of Wuhan for the first time , where she was eighth with 4995 points. In 2018 she again took part in the Asian Games in Jakarta and again won the silver medal with 5954 points; this time behind the Indian Swapna Barman . The following year she won the bronze medal at the Asian Championships in Doha with 5829 points behind the Uzbek Voronina and Barman from India.
In 2014 and 2015 as well as in 2017 and 2018, Wang became the Chinese heptathlon champion. She graduated from Jimei University in Xiamen .
