Sepideh Tavakoli (born March 2, 1989 in Tehran ) is an Iranian athlete who specializes in the heptathlete and the high jump .

Athletic career

Sepideh Tavakoli gained her first international experience at the 2009 Asian Championships in Guangzhou , where she finished tenth in the high jump with 1.75 m. A year later she was sixth in the Asian Indoor Championships in Tehran in the high jump and at the Asian Games in Guangzhou she was also sixth in the heptathlon. In 2011 she finished ninth in the heptathlon at the Asian Championships in Kobe . In 2012 she won the bronze medal at the Asian Indoor Championships in Hangzhou with 3775 points. In 2013 she took part in the heptathlon at the Asian Championships in Pune , but had to end her competition early.

In 2014 she finished fifth in the pentathlon at the Asian Indoor Championships in Hangzhou and sixth in the heptathlon at the Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea . In 2015 she finished fifth at the Asian Championships in Wuhan with a new national record. In 2016 she won two silver medals in the pentathlon and with the Iranian 4 x 400 meter relay at the Asian Indoor Championships in Doha . At the Islamic Solidarity Games 2017 in Baku , she was seventh in the high jump and had no valid attempt in the javelin throw in the final. At the beginning of September she took fifth place at the Asian Indoor & Martial Arts Games in Ashgabat . In 2018 she took part in the Asian Indoor Championships in Tehran, where she won the gold medal in the pentathlon and silver in the high jump with a new national record of 4038 points. At the end of August she took part again in the Asian Games in Jakarta , where she finished seventh with 1.80 m.

Tavakoli Studied Philosophy and Industrial Engineering at Azad Islamic University .
