Live and act

Karl Fußenegger was born on June 30, 1858 as the youngest son of the textile manufacturer and former Dornbirn mayor David Fussenegger and his wife Karolina (née Danner) in Dornbirn. Fußenegger completed a legal education and worked as a lawyer. In 1897 he was elected chairman of the newly founded Deutschfreisinnigen Verein für Vorarlberg . At the head of the Dornbirn constitutional association, Fußenegger was soon replaced by Franz Feierle .

When the long-serving Mayor of Dornbirn, Johann Georg Waibel, died on October 22nd, 1908 , his previous deputy, Karl Fußenegger, was appointed as his successor. In his previous functions, Fußenegger was succeeded by the factory owner and city councilor Hubert Rhomberg. However, Fußenegger only briefly replaced his liberal predecessor Waibel. In 1910, after several decades of supremacy in Dornbirn municipal politics, the German National Liberals lost the municipal council election and Karl Fußenegger had to hand over the office of Dornbirn mayor to his successor Engelbert Luger from the Christian Social Party .
