Evelise Maria Tavares da Veiga (born March 3, 1996 in Praia ) is a Portuguese long and triple jumper from Cape Verde .

Athletic career

Evelise Veiga gained her first international experience in 2013 at the World Youth Championships in Donetsk , where she was eliminated in the long jump qualification with 5.63 m. The following year she won the Jogos da Lusofonia 2014 in Goa with 5.86 m. In 2015 she reached ninth place in the long jump at the Junior European Championships in Eskilstuna with 6.02 m and was tenth in the triple jump with 12.61 m. In 2016 she reached fifth place at the U23 Mediterranean Games in Tunis with a width of 5.95 m. The following year she classified at the U23 European Championships in Bydgoszcz with 6.43 m in fifth place and was twelfth in the triple jump with 13.00 m. In 2018 she won the U23 Mediterranean Games in Jesolo with 6.26 m and won the silver medal in the triple jump with 13.65 m. In the long jump, she also qualified for the European Championships in Berlin , where she finished eighth with a jump of 6.47 m. Previously, she was fifth at the Mediterranean Games in Tarragona with 6.61 m. In 2019 she won the silver medal at the Summer Universiade in Naples with 6.61 m behind the Ukrainian Maryna Bech-Romantschuk and with 13.81 m also in the triple jump behind the Ukrainian Olha Korsun .

From 2016 to 2019 Veiga was Portuguese champion in the long jump outdoors and in 2013 and from 2017 to 2019 also in the hall.
