Maryna Oleksandriwna Bech-Romantschuk ( Ukrainian Марина Олександрівна Бех-Романчук , English transcription Maryna Bekh-Romanchuk; born July 18, 1995 in Chmelnyzkyj as Maryna Bech ) is a Ukrainian long jumper .

Athletic career

In 2011 Maryna Bech took part in the World Youth Championships near Lille , where she finished fifth in the final. In 2011 she won the gold medal at the European Youth Olympic Festival. In 2012 she took part in the Junior World Championships in Barcelona , where she finished eighth with 6.35 m. In 2013 she won the bronze medal at the Junior European Championships in Rieti . She also took part in the World Championships in Moscow , but was eliminated there in qualifying. At the Junior World Championships in the following year, she finished ninth in the final. In 2015 she was eliminated from the qualification at the European Indoor Championships in Prague with 6.27 m and took sixth place at the U23 European Championships in Tallinn with 6.5 m.

In 2016, she finished twelfth in the final of the European Championships in Amsterdam with 6.29 m. At the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , she was able to qualify for the final . There she did not succeed in a valid attempt and was therefore last. In 2017, she finished seventh at the European Indoor Championships in Belgrade with 6.59 m. At the U23 European Championships in Bydgoszcz , Poland , she was the clear favorite after the paper form, but could not build on the previous one for the entire season. Nevertheless, she was able to increase the competition and won the bronze medal with 6.48 m. At the World Championships in London in August, she was eliminated with 6.36 m in qualification . The following year she finished tenth at the World Indoor Championships in Birmingham with 6.37 m. In August she won the silver medal behind the German Malaika Mihambo at the European Championships in Berlin with 6.73 m . At the European Indoor Championships in Glasgow in 2019 , she won the bronze medal with 6.84 m behind the Serbian Ivana Španović and the Belarusian Nastassja Mirontschyk-Iwanowa . Then she won the European Games in Minsk with 6.79 m and also at the Summer Universiade in Naples with 6.84 m. This qualified her for the World Championships in Doha in October, where she won the silver medal with a width of 6.92 m in the final behind the German Malaika Mihambo.

Between 2015 and 2019 , Bech-Romantschuk was Ukrainian champion in the long jump outdoors and in 2015 and from 2017 to 2019 also in the hall. Since her marriage in September 2018 to the Ukrainian swimmer Mychajlo Romantschuk , she has started under the double name Bech-Romantschuk .
