Junior World Championships 2012 Junior World Championships 2016

The 15th World Junior Athletics Championships took place July 22-27, 2014 at Hayward Field in Eugene . The award was announced by the IAAF at their meeting in Monaco on November 11, 2011.

Eugene was the only candidate left after the Bahamas withdrew their candidacy due to funding problems and the city of Kazan failed to submit application documents.

qualification

In order to take part in the championships, the following conditions had to be met by the athletes.

Extract of the necessary conditions:

  • Athletes must be 16, 17, 18 or 19 years old on December 31, 2014 (born in 1995, 1996, 1997 or 1998). Anyone born in 1997 or 1998 may take part in a maximum of two disciplines plus one relay. If there are two running disciplines, only one of them may be longer than 200 meters.
  • Only two athletes per country are allowed to start per discipline. With the exception of the seasons.
  • If three athletes have achieved the performance, all three can be on the start list, but only two are allowed to start the discipline.
  • Countries in which no athlete has qualified can name an athlete for a discipline. Except for non-track disciplines, the 10,000-meter run, the 3000-meter obstacle course, the 5000-meter run for women and the all-around event.
  • Countries whose athletes have not qualified, but want an athlete to start because he / she has been noticed by good performance in a non-career discipline at events, can inform the IAAF. The IAAF will then decide whether a start permit is granted.
  • If no athlete from the host country has qualified for a discipline, an athlete will still receive a start authorization for this discipline.

Further conditions can be found in this PDF file.
