Andrian Mardare (born June 20, 1995 ) is a Moldovan athlete who specializes in throwing the javelin . In this discipline he is the holder of the national record.
Athletic career
Andrian Mardare first competed in javelin throwing in 2012. At that time he finished third at the U18 Balkan Championships. Just a year later he won the gold medal at the national championships. In the summer he entered the U20 European Championships in Rieti, where he was eliminated in qualification. In 2014 he entered the U20 World Championships in Eugene. In the qualification he set a new personal best of 74.46 m, with which he moved into the final as the best in the qualification. In the final he came to 72.81 m and won the bronze medal. In the next few years he mainly took part in local athletics meetings. In 2015 he took fourth place at the first ever European Games in Baku.
In 2017 Mardare started at the U23 European Championships in Bydgoszcz. In the final he won the bronze medal with 78.76 m. In August he first appeared at world championships . With a width of 80.18 m he failed in London as ninth in his qualifying group to make it into the final. In October he started as a student at the State University of Physical Education and Sports in Chișinău at the Universiade in Taipei, where he finished fourth. In June 2018 he set his personal best of 84.43 m in a competition in Prague. Two months later he competed at the European Championships in Berlin, where he made it to the finals, where he was seventh with 81.54 m. In 2019 he won the gold medal at the Universiade in Naples with 82.40 m.
