Sofia Ennaoui (born August 30, 1995 in Ben Guerir ) is a Polish athlete of Moroccan origin who competes in the middle-distance run .

Athletic career

Ennaoui - the daughter of a Moroccan and a Polish woman - was born in Morocco, but has lived in Poland since she was two (she grew up in Lipiany and currently lives in Wroclaw ). In 2011 she took part for the first time in international championships, the World Championships in Athletics , where she was eliminated over 800 meters in the preliminary run. In the following year, she reached the final of the 1500 meter athletics junior world championships in 2012 and came in 10th there. In 2013 she achieved her first medal, with second place at the European Athletics Junior Championships in Rieti, Italy . In the following year, she was fifth at the 2014 Junior World Championships in athletics and barely missed a medal over 1500 meters, and over 3000 meters she could not finish her run. In 2015 she started the year very successfully with a 5th place at the European Indoor Championships in Prague , won the silver medal over 1500 meters at the U23 European Athletics Championships and qualified both over the 800 meters and her special course for the World Athletics Championships 2015 in Beijing , each of which reached the semi-finals.

In 2016 she reached the final over 1500 meters at the 2016 European Athletics Championships and finished seventh there. She also started at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where she again advanced to the finals and finished 10th overall. During the 2017 indoor season, Ennaoui continued to improve and took part in the European Athletics Indoor Championships , where she won the bronze medal over 1500 meters. At the U23 European Championships in Bydgoszcz , Poland , she again won the silver medal over 1500 meters and this time only had to admit defeat to the German Konstanze Klosterhalfen .
