Shakeil Waithe (born June 10, 1995 ) is a track and field athlete from Trinidad and Tobago who specializes in throwing the javelin .

Athletic career

Shakeil Waithe gained his first international experience at the CARIFTA Games 2014 in Fort-de-France , where he won the gold medal in the U20 classification with 67.53 m. He then won the gold medal at the Central America and Caribbean Junior Championships in Morelia with 70.39 m. He also qualified for the Junior World Championships in Eugene , where he reached fifth place with 70.78 m in the final. In 2015 he took part in the Pan American Games in Toronto , where he finished twelfth with 73.21 m. Shortly afterwards he was at the NACAC Championships in San José with 73.44 m fifth. The following year he reached fourth place at the U23 NACAC championships in San Salvador with 75.09 m.

In 2018 he took part in the Commonwealth Games in the Australian Gold Coast for the first time , where he finished seventh with 76.85 m.

In 2015 Waithe became the Trinidadian-Tobagan javelin champion.
