Laura Gläsner (born January 20, 1996 in Braunschweig / Lower Saxony ) is a German athlete who has specialized in the 400-meter hurdles . She also runs sprints and relays .

career path

Laura Gläsner attended the Giordano Bruno Comprehensive School (IGS) in Helmstedt . She changed her career aspiration from Bundeswehr to police . As a police commissioner candidate , Gläsner is at the Lower Saxony Police Academy in Hanover .

Athletic career

Like many young athletes, Laura Gläsner initially competed in many disciplines until her running strength crystallized. She did not come to the hurdles by accident, but because of her high coordination skills and great talent for movement.

As a 16-year-old, Gläsner won the German Youth Championships in the B final of the 400-meter hurdles at a time when she would have been runner-up in the A final. In 2013 she won the German U18 runner-up in this discipline.

In 2014 Gläsner took 4th place in the German Junior Championships (U23) over 400 meter hurdles. When she started at the U20 World Championships in Eugene , she came over the long hurdles to the semi-finals and took 3rd place with the 4 x 400 meter relay . Finally, she won the German U20 championship over the 400 meter hurdles.

In 2015, Gläsner became German youth indoor runner-up in the 400-meter run . Over the 400 meter hurdles she took 3rd place at the German Junior Championships (U23) and 5th place at the U20 European Championships in Eskilstuna as well as the German U20 championship title .

In 2016, Gläsner reached 4th place at the German Indoor Championships with the 4 x 200 meter relay and the German Championships 4 x 400 meter relay . Over the long hurdles she was German junior runner-up (U23) .

In 2017, Gläsner set four personal bests in the indoor season: in the 60- and 200-meter run at the state hall championships in Hanover and at the evening sports festival in Erfurt over 300 meters. She finished the German Indoor Championships in Leipzig with a personal best of 53.65 s over 400 meters and third place. At the European Indoor Championships in Belgrade Gläsner was nominated for the 4 x 400 meter relay, which reached 6th place.

Laura Gläsner joined the C-team in 2012 and is now part of the B-team of the German Athletics Association (DLV) .

Club membership

Laura Gläsner has been working for VfL Eintracht Hannover since 2016 and previously worked for SV Germania Helmstedt for many years, which merged into TSV Germania Helmstedt in 2014 .

Awards

  • In 2010 Gläsner was honored by the KreisSportBund Helmstedt as youth athlete of the year.
  • Elected by the club as athlete of the year in the adult sector in 2015, after 2010, 2011 and 2012 in the youth sector and in 2014 as youth athlete of the decade.
  • In 2015, Gläsner was allowed to register for her sporting achievements in the golden book of the city of Helmstedt.
  • In 2017, as German junior runner-up (U23) in the 400-meter hurdles , Gläsner was one of the honored top and amateur athletes of the police of the state of Lower Saxony.
