history

The predecessor since 1946 was the Lower Saxony State Police School , which guaranteed training in middle and higher-level police enforcement service. In 1997 it was converted into the Lower Saxony Police Training Institute (BIP NI), which from then on was only responsible for matters relating to further training. The training was completed at the Lower Saxony University of Applied Sciences for Administration and Justice (FHVR) based in Hildesheim , Hann. Relocated to Münden and Oldenburg, which lasted from August 1979 to September 30, 2007. On October 1, 2007, the Police Department of the University of Applied Sciences and the Lower Saxony Police Training Institute (BIP NI) were merged into the newly founded Police Academy with headquarters in Nienburg. The training and further education of the approximately 22,000 employees of the Lower Saxony state police was thus united under one roof. One of the reasons for this change in 2007 was the development of the Bologna Process to create a unified higher education area in Europe.

Course of study

For this reason, the accredited "Police Enforcement Service" (BA) course for the higher-level police enforcement service in Lower Saxony is completed with the award of the Bachelor of Arts. The degree is on the one hand the basis for entry into the formerly high-level police enforcement service and on the other hand the requirement for the master’s degree at the German Police University (formerly higher-level police enforcement service ).

Academy staff

The teaching staff at the Police Academy is divided into professors, lecturers and teaching staff for special tasks. The professors perform the tasks in training and further education as well as in research projects.
