Baboloki Thebe (born March 18, 1997 in Ramonaka ) is a Botswana athlete who specializes in the 400-meter run .

Athletic career

Baboloki Thebe celebrated his first international title win at the 2014 African Youth Games in Gaborone , where he won over 200 meters in 20.85 s. He also won the bronze medal over 100 meters in 10.65 seconds. At the Junior World Championships in Eugene , he reached the semi-finals over 200 meters and was eliminated with both the Botswana 4 x 100 meter relay and the 4 x 400 meter relay in the preliminary run. At the end of the season he won the silver medal over 200 meters behind the American Noah Lyles at the Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing . In 2015 he reached the semi-finals over 100 meters at the Junior African Championships in Addis Ababa , but did not compete there.

In 2016, Thebe won the gold medal in the 400-meter run and the Botswana relay at the African Championships in Durban . At the U20 World Championships in Bydgoszcz , Poland , he was disqualified in the semi-finals over 200 meters, retired with the 4 x 100 meter relay in the run-up and won the 4 x 400 meter relay with a new African junior record of 3: 02.81 min the silver medal behind the United States. In addition, he qualified over 400 meters for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , in which he reached the semi-finals , but did not start again there. In addition, the Botswana 4 x 400 meter relay took fifth place in the final . In early 2017, this season won the silver medal behind the United States at the World Relays in the Bahamas . In 2019 Thebe became the Botswana champion in the 200-meter run.
