Ibrahima Wade

Ibrahima Wade (born September 6, 1968 in Dakar ) is a former French sprinter of Senegalese origin who specialized in the 400-meter run .

In 1996 he won the African Athletics Championships in Yaoundé . The following year he reached the semifinals of the World Athletics Championships in Athens and won the Francophonie games . At the 1998 African Championships in Dakar, he won bronze, and at the 1999 World Cup in Seville, he made it to the semi-finals again and finished seventh with the Senegalese team in the 4 x 400 meter relay .

On February 23, 2000 he changed his nationality. At the Olympic Games in Sydney he reached the quarter-finals in the individual competition and came fourth with the French 4-by-400-meter relay.

With the relay team of his new home he won bronze at the European Athletics Championships in Munich in 2002 . At the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, he was eliminated with the French relay in the preliminary run.

In 1996, 1999 and 2000 he became French champion. He set his personal best of 45.05 s on August 20, 1998 in Dakar .
