Alphas Leken Kishoyian (born October 12, 1994 in Narok ) is a Kenyan sprinter who specializes in the 400-meter run .

Athletic career

Alphas Kishoyian gained his first international experience at the 2010 Youth Olympic Games in Singapore , where he won the bronze medal in the 400-meter run in 47.24 seconds and came fourth with a mixed relay. In the following year he won the bronze medal in the 400 meters at the Junior African Championships in Gaborone in 46.71 seconds and won the silver medal in the Kenyan 4 x 400 meter relay in 3: 10.17 minutes. He then took part in the Youth World Championships near Lille and won the silver medal there in 46.58 s, as well as at the subsequent Commonwealth Youth Games in Douglas in 48.28 s. In 2012 he reached sixth place in the Junior World Championships in Barcelona in 46.19 s and then received a starting place in the relay for the Olympic Games in London , in which he was disqualified in the preliminary stages. He also took part in the relay at the 2013 World Championships in Moscow , where 3: 06.29 minutes were not enough for a final.

At the IAAF World Relays 2015 in the Bahamas , he retired with the 4 x 400 meter relay with 3: 05.92 minutes in the lead and came second with the distance relay after 9: 17.20 minutes behind the team from the United States. He then took part over 400 meters in the World Championships in Beijing , but was eliminated there with 46.02 s in the first round . He was then eliminated from the military world games in Mungyeon, South Korea with 46.98 s in the semifinals, finished eighth in the 4 x 100 meter relay in 40.58 s and was awarded the 4 x 400 meter Relay disqualified. The following year he finished seventh over 400 meters at the African Championships in Durban in 46.95 seconds, finished fifth in the 4 x 100 meter relay in 39.97 seconds and won four times -400 meter relay in 3: 04.25 min the silver medal behind the team from Botswana. Over 400 meters he also qualified again for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where he was eliminated with 46.74 s in the run -up. At the IAAF World Relays 2017 , Kenya won the 4-by-400-meter relay in 3: 06.26 min in the B final and was sixth in the mixed relay in 3: 23.79 min. In 2018 he finished fourth at the African Championships in Asaba in 46.08 seconds and won the relay with a new championship record of 3: 00.92 minutes.

At the IAAF World Relays 2019 in Yokohama , he finished fourth with the 4 x 200 meter relay in 1: 22.55 minutes. He then took part in the Africa Games in Rabat for the first time , where he finished fifth over 400 meters in 45.97 s. He qualified again for the World Championships in Doha and retired there with 45.55 s in the semifinals and did not reach the final with the mixed relay with 3: 17.09 min.

In 2013 and 2019 , Kishoyian became the Kenyan champion in the 400-meter run.
