Clement Chukwu (born July 7, 1973 ) is a former Nigerian athlete whose special routes were the 200- and 400-meter run .

Sporting successes

Chukwu took part in two Olympic Games ( 1996 , 2000 ). At the Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000, he first won the silver medal with the Nigerian 4 x 400 meter relay . In the final he set an African record together with Jude Monye , Sunday Bada and final runner Enefiok Udo-Obong in a time of 2: 58.68 minutes. In August 2008, the originally victorious US relay team was subsequently disqualified for a doping offense by its runner Antonio Pettigrew . In July 2012 the Nigerian squadron was officially awarded the gold.

Chukwu was also successful as an individual starter: He won the 400 meter competition at the Universiade in 1997 in Sicily , the title of the 1998 African Championships and a silver medal at the 1999 Africa Games in Johannesburg .

With a height of 1.90 m, his competition weight was 82 kg.

Doping ban

Because of a positive doping test, Chukwu was banned from the IAAF between 1992 and 1996 .
