Daniel Joseph "Danny" Everett (born November 1, 1966 in Van Alstyne , Texas ) is an American track and field athlete who was a successful 400-meter runner in the late 1980s and early 1990s . He won two bronze medals in the individual run as well as two gold and one silver medal with the relay at the Olympic Games and World Championships.

Danny Everett first appeared in 1986 when he finished fifth in the US Championships in 45.29 s. When he finished fourth (45.36 s) the following year, he was nominated for the season that included Danny Everett as starting runners, Roddie Haley , Antonio McKay and Harry Reynolds at the World Athletics Championships in Rome in 1987 The race started and took the gold medal in an excellent 2: 57.29 minutes ahead of the teams from Great Britain (silver in 2: 58.86 minutes) and Cuba (bronze in 2: 59.16 minutes).

A year later, at the Seoul Olympics , Everett won his second season gold. This time he was the starting runner, followed by Steve Lewis , Kevin Robinzine and Harry Reynolds again as the final runner . The victory time was significantly faster with 2: 56.16 minutes and the gap to the runners-up (Jamaica, silver in 3: 00.30 minutes and West Germany, bronze in 3: 00.56 minutes) was considerably greater than two years earlier in Rome . Everett was also successful in the individual races: in 44.09 s he won bronze behind his two compatriots Steve Lewis (gold in 43.87 s) and Harry Reynolds (silver in 43.93 s).

At the following World Championships in Tokyo in 1991 , the US relay with Andrew Valmon , Quincy Watts , Danny Everett as third runner and Antonio Pettigrew again achieved a fabulous time, but 2: 57.57 minutes were only enough for the silver medal: the British relay was four Hundredths faster. However, Everett also made it into the medal ranks as a single runner: In 44.63 s he won bronze just behind the Briton Roger Black (silver in 44.62 s) and Antonio Pettigrew (gold in 44.57 s).

Everett secured two more individual medals in the Grand Prix finals. In 1987 in Brussels and 1989 in Monte Carlo he won the gold medal. His victory times: 45.28 s ahead of the Nigerian Innocent Egbunike (silver in 45.34 s) and Mike Franks (bronze in 45.45 s) and 44.59 s ahead of his two compatriots Harry Reynolds (silver in 44.96 s ) and Quincy Watts (bronze in 45.06 s). At the Grand Prix he achieved his greatest successes as an individual runner: in 1987 he was second (40 points), in 1989 winner (51 points) and in 1991 third (39 points).

In the following year, 1992, however, he was unlucky. After he had won the first and only time at the national championships in 43.81 s, the second best time ever run over 400 meters, he was considered a favorite at the Olympic Games in Barcelona . There he was injured in the semifinals and could not compete in the season either.

Danny Everett now lived in Mar Vista , Southern California , where he coached the Windward School's cross-country team.
