LaMont Smith

LaMont Smith (born December 11, 1972 in Philadelphia ) is an American athlete who appeared in the mid-1990s as a 400-meter runner .

In 1996 he ran his personal best at the US championships with 44.30 s, which was only enough for fourth place. Another participation in the finals is recorded for 1993, when he finished eighth and last with 46.47 s.

He also started over 200 meters, but did not come under 21 seconds.

Smith made his only significant international appearance at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta as a member of the US 4-by-400-meter relay , which included LaMont Smith as the starting runners, Alvin Harrison , Derek Mills and Anthuan Maybank in outstanding 2 : 55.99 min won the gold medal ahead of Great Britain (silver in 2: 56.60 min). As a single runner over 400 meters, he was not at the start (the USA was represented in Atlanta over 400 meters with Michael Johnson and Alvin Harrison , who finished 1st and 4th, respectively, as well as semi-finalist Butch Reynolds ).
