Jude Monye (born November 16, 1973 ) is a Nigerian athlete whose special route is the 400-meter run .

Sporting successes

Monye took part in two Olympic Games ( 1996 and 2000 ). At the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney he won the silver medal with the Nigerian 4 x 400 meter relay . In the final he set an African record together with Clement Chukwu , Sunday Bada and final runner Enefiok Udo-Obong in a time of 2: 58.68 minutes. In August 2008, the originally victorious US relay team was subsequently disqualified for a doping offense by its runner Antonio Pettigrew . Gold was officially awarded to the Nigerian relay team in July 2012.

Monye was also successful at the World Athletics Championships . He won a bronze medal in the 4 x 400 meter competition at the 1995 World Championships in Gothenburg with Udeme Ekpeyong , Kunle Adejuyigbe and Sunday Bada in 3: 03.18 minutes. In the same year he finished third as a single starter in the 400-meter run at the African Games in Harare .
