Anthuan Maybank
Anthuan Maybank (born December 30, 1969 in Georgetown , South Carolina ) is a former American track and field athlete who appeared as a 400 and 200 meter runner in 1995 and 1996 .
In 1995 he won the student world games in Fukuoka over 200 meters in 20.46 s with a hundredth of a second ahead of his compatriot Dave Dopek . In 1996 he finished in the finals of the Grand Prix in Milan behind Michael Johnson, who was superior in 44.53 s, in second place in 45.19 s ahead of Derek Mills in 45.24 s and won Weltklasse Zürich .
However, he made his big appearance in the same year at the Olympic Games in Atlanta , where he won the gold medal as a member of the 4 x 400 meter relay . His nomination as the final runner after Lamont Smith , Alvin Harrison and Derek Mills was surprising in that Maybank was not among the then US elite over 400 meters; However, shortly before - on July 3, 1996 - he had increased his personal best in Lausanne to 44.15 seconds. His best placement at the state championships was a 4th place over 200 meters (20.27 s) in 1995. In addition, there are only two 7th places over 400 meters (1999 in 45.78 s and 2003 in 45.62 s) book for him.
He was not represented once in the US four-by-400-meter relay, which was successful in several World Championships. As a single runner over 400 or 200 meters, he did not compete in either the Olympic Games or the World Championships.
Anthuan Maybank was a student at the University of Iowa .
