Fred Alderman
Fred Alderman ( Frederick Pitt Alderman ; born June 24, 1905 in Lansing , Michigan , † September 15, 1998 in Social Circle , Georgia ) was an American sprinter who was successful in the 400-meter run in the late 1920s . His special route was the 400 meters. He started for the University of Michigan .

- In 1928 at the Olympic Games in Amsterdam he won the 4-by-400-meter relay as a member of the US team, which consisted of George Baird , Emerson Spencer , Alderman and Ray Barbuti , in a world record time of 3: 14.2 min the gold medal ahead of Germany (silver in 3: 14.8 min) and Canada (bronze in 3: 15.4 min).
He did not start in the individual races.
At the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, 91-year-old Alderman was one of the torchbearers.
