Derrick Brew

Derrick Brew (born December 28, 1977 in Houston ) is an American sprinter .

The 400-meter runner Brew had his breakthrough in 2001 in the US Trials for the 2001 World Championships in Edmonton. He finished fourth and qualified for the USA's 4 x 400 meter relay . With this season he became world champion for the first time. The 2003 season was identical when he became the relay world champion for the second time at the 2003 World Championships in Paris. However, this medal was subsequently revoked from the US relay team.

At the US Trials for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens , he was third and was then allowed to compete in an individual race for the first time, in which he then won the bronze medal. With the relay he became Olympic champion in Athens .

At the US Championships in 2005 only fifth, he was nevertheless nominated for the relay at the World Championships in Helsinki in 2005. There he became world champion again. He ran his personal best as a student in 1999 with 44.29 s, a time that he only came close to at the Olympics in Athens with 44.42 s.

Derrick Brew has a competition weight of 79 kg with a height of 1.85 m.
