Yinka Ajayi (born August 11, 1997 in Offa ) is a Nigerian sprinter who specializes in the 400-meter run .

Athletic career

Yinka Ajayi gained her first international experience at the 2014 Junior World Championships in Eugene , where she finished fifth in the Nigerian 4 x 400 meter relay in 3: 35.14 minutes. The following year, she also won the relay in 3: 38.94 min at the Junior African Championships in Addis Ababa . In 2016 she made it to the semi-finals at the African Championships in Durban , where she was eliminated with 53.54 seconds. In addition, she won the silver medal behind the team from South Africa with the Nigerian relay in 3: 29.94 minutes. At the Islamic Solidarity Games 2017 in Bakushe won the bronze medal over 400 meters in 52.57 s and the silver medal in both sprint relays. She also qualified for the World Championships in London , where she was eliminated in the semifinals with 52.10 s . With the season she came in fifth with 3: 26.72 minutes in the final . In 2018 she took part in the Commonwealth Games in the Australian Gold Coast for the first time , where she was eighth over 400 meters in 52.26 s and won the silver medal behind the Jamaicans in 3: 25.29 min. In August she won the bronze medal at the African Championships in Asaba in 51.34 seconds and won the Nigerian relay in 3: 31.17 minutes.
