Nadine Johanna Visser (born February 9, 1995 in Hoorn ) is a Dutch athlete who competes in the heptathlon , in the 100-meter hurdles and in the sprint .
Athletic career
Visser got into athletics at the age of 13. In 2011 she won the gold medal for the 100 meter hurdles at the European Youth Olympic Festival in Trabzon in the time of 13.28 s and with the 4 x 100 meter relay . At the World Junior Athletics Championships in 2012 , she started in the heptathlon and finished 11th with 5447 points. The following year she finished fourth at the Junior European Championships with 5774 points and improved the Dutch junior record in the opening 100-meter hurdles with 13.21 s.
In 2014, Visser set over 60 meter hurdles and new Dutch indoor junior records in the pentathlon. At the Hypo-Meeting in Götzis , where she participated for the first time, she achieved 14th place with a personal best of 6110 points. At the Junior World Championships in Eugene in the same year , she won the bronze medal in the heptathlon with 5948 points and over 100 meters hurdles with 12.99 s and the Dutch junior record. At the European Championships in 2014 , she started over 100 meter hurdles, where she was eliminated in the semi-finals.
In 2015 she won the Dutch indoor championships with 8.12 seconds over 60 m hurdles. At the European Indoor Championships in Prague , she was eliminated in the same discipline due to a fall in the semifinals. In the outdoor season she improved her best over the hurdles to 12.97 s and in the heptathlon to 6467 points. For the U23 European Championships , Visser had met the qualification standards for 100 meters, 200 meters, 100 meter hurdles, long jump and heptathlon. She decided to take part over the hurdles and in the long jump. In the hurdles she won the bronze medal with 13.01 seconds. At the 2015 World Championships in Beijing , Visser finished eighth in the heptathlon.
In 2016 she took part in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro . In 2017 Visser qualified for the European Indoor Championships in Belgrade in both pentathlon and over 60 meter hurdles . However, she decided to only start over the hurdles, reached the final with a new best performance and took seventh place there. At the U23 European Championships in 2017 in Bydgoszcz , Poland , she won the gold medal in the hurdles sprint and decided not to start in the heptathlon, for which, as the European leader, she would have had a good chance of winning a medal. After she had finished seventh in both the hurdles and the heptathlon at the World Championships in London , she won the hurdles at the Universiade in Taipei in 12.98 s.
In 2018 Visser set a national record in the semi-finals of the 60 meter hurdles at the World Championships in Birmingham with 7.83 s. She completed the final run with a similar speed (7.84 s) and was able to secure the bronze medal with this performance. In the open-air season, Visser wants to concentrate exclusively on the hurdles.
