Ashraf Amgad el-Seify ( Arabic أشرف أمجد الصيفي, DMG Ašraf Amǧad aṣ-Ṣaifī ; * February 20, 1995 ) is a Qatari hammer thrower of Egyptian origin. He has held the U20 world record in hammer throw since 2012.

Career

Ashraf Amgad el-Seify gained his first international experience at the Junior Asian Championships 2012 in Colombo , where he won the gold medal with a width of 80.85 m. He qualified for the Junior World Championships in Barcelona , where he also won gold with a junior world record of 85.57 m. The following year he finished tenth at the Asian Championships in Pune with 63.29 m, but was still able to qualify for the World Championships in Moscow , where he was eliminated with 69.70 m in the first round. He then won the bronze medal at the Francophonie Games in Nice with 72.88 m. In 2014 he won again with 79.71 m at the Junior Asian Championships in Taipei and also at the Junior World Championships in Eugene , where he threw the hammer at 84.71 m. In September he took part for the first time in the Asian Games in Incheon , South Korea ; but im did not succeed there.

In 2015 he won the silver medal at both the Arab Championships in Manama with 73.68 m and the Asian Championships in Wuhan with 76.03 m. In China he only had to admit defeat to the Tajik Dilschod Nazarow . He qualified again for the World Championships in Beijing , where he finished ninth with 74.09 m in the final . The following year he took part in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro and was sixth there with 75.46 m in the final . In 2017 he won the bronze medal at the Islamic Solidarity Games with 73.17 m and at the World Championships in London he was eliminated with 71.87 m in qualification . In 2018 he won the Asian Games in Jakarta with 76.88 m ahead of Nasarow and Suhrob Xoʻjayev from Uzbekistan. He was then at the Athletics Continental Cup in Ostrava with 74.08 m fifth.

In 2019 he won the silver medal behind Tajik Nazarow at the Asian Championships in Doha with 73.76 m and also qualified for the World Championships there in October, where he finished ninth with a width of 75.41 m in the final .
