Suhrob Xoʻjayev ( Tajik Сӯҳроб Хоҷаев , English transcription Suhrob Khodjaev; born May 21, 1993 in Farkhor ) is an Uzbek hammer thrower of Tajik origin who has been authorized to start in Uzbekistan since 2010.

Athletic career

Suhrob Xoʻjayev gained his first international experience at the 2009 World Youth Championships in Bressanone , where he won the silver medal with 73.29 m. Since 2010 he has started for Uzbekistan and was tenth at the Asian Championships 2011 in Kobe with 58.50 m. In 2012 he took part in the Junior World Championships in Barcelona and won the bronze medal with a width of 76.16 m. He also qualified for the Olympic Games in London , where he was eliminated with 65.88 m in qualification . In 2014 he took part in the Asian Games in Incheon , South Korea for the first time and finished fifth with a throw on 71.43 m. In 2015 he finished fourth at the Asian Championships in Wuhan with 72.63 m. He also qualified for the World Championships in Beijing , where he was eliminated with 71.24 m in the first round .

In 2016 he again took part in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where he was eliminated again with 70.11 m in qualification . In 2017 he reached fifth place at the Islamic Solidarity Games in Baku with a width of 70.31 m. In 2018 he won the bronze medal at the Asian Games in Jakarta with 74.06 m behind the Katari Ashraf Amgad el-Seify and Dilschod Nasarow from Tajikistan. The following year he won the bronze medal at the Asian Championships behind Nazarow and el-Seify with a width of 72.85 m .

In 2010, 2011 and 2014 Xoʻjayev was Uzbek hammer throwing champion.
