Ejowvokoghene Divine Oduduru (born October 7, 1996 in Ughelli ) is a Nigerian sprinter .

Athletic career

Divine Oduduru gained his first international experience at the 2013 African Youth Championships in Warri , where he won gold medals in 100 meters and in the 200-meter run in 10.62 s and 21.56 s , as well as a bronze medal with the Nigerian sprint relay ( 1000 meters) in 1: 54.58 min. He then reached the semi-finals in the 100-meter run at the World Youth Championships in Donetsk , in which he was eliminated with 11.05 s. He was also sixth over 200 meters in 21.37 s and was used in the sprint relay in the run-up. He then won the Junior African Championships in Réduit in 21.19 s over 200 meters and in 40.36 s with the 4 x 100 meter relay . The following year he won the silver medal over 200 meters at the Junior World Championships in Eugene in 20.25 s and was fifth with the relay in 39.66 s. He then won the African Championships in Marrakech in 39.51 s with the relay, in which he was only used in the run-up, and was sixth in the 200-meter run in 20.81 s. In 2015 he won the Junior African Championships in Addis Ababa in 10.44 s and 21.22 s over 100 and 200 meters and in 39.99 s with the relay. At the World Relays in the Bahamas , he started with the 4 x 200 meter relay, but was disqualified there in the run-up. In September he took part in the Africa Games in Brazzaville for the first time and won the silver medal there in 20.45 s behind the Ivorian Hua Wilfried Koffi . In addition, he was used in the season in advance, which was later disqualified in the final.

In 2016 he reached the final over 200 meters at the African Championships in Durban , but did not start there. With his services he also qualified for the first time for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where he reached the semi-finals over 200 meters , in which he was eliminated with 20.59 s. Two years later he won the silver medal over 200 meters behind the South African Ncincihli Titi at the African Championships in Asaba in his home country in 20.60 seconds and also with the Nigerian 4 x 100 meter relay in 38.74 seconds. In 2019 he won the NCAA championships for the second time and showed world-class performances there in just one day. Over 100 meters he approached the African record of his compatriot Olusoji Fasuba by just a hundredth of a second in 9.86 s and over 200 meters he set a new national record in 19.73 s and is thus in 14th place on the all-time best list (as of 2019). He then took part again in the African Games in Rabat and won the silver medal behind the Zambian Sydney Siame in 20.54 s and also won the silver medal behind the team from Ghana in 38.59 s with the relay. Then he reached the semi-finals at the World Championships in Doha over 200 meters , in which he was eliminated with 20.84 s.

In 2014 and 2016 Oduduru became Nigerian champion in the 200-meter run. He is a student at Texas Tech University in Lubbock .
