Sydney Siame (born October 7, 1997 in Isoka ) is a Zambian sprinter .

Athletic career

Sydney Siame gained his first experience at international championships at the 2014 African Youth Games in Gaborone , where he won the silver medal in the 100-meter run . He then took part in the Junior World Championships in Eugene and reached the semi-finals there. At the Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing , he won the gold medal in 10.56 s. In 2015 Siame won the bronze medal over 100 meters at the Junior African Championships in Addis Ababa and qualified over 200 meters for the World Championships in Beijing , where he was eliminated with 21.08 s in the preliminary round. He then reached seventh place over 200 meters at the Africa Games in Brazzaville . Over 100 meters he was disqualified in the semifinals, with the Zambian 4 x 100 meter relay in the final.

In 2016 he took part in the African Championships in Durban , where he finished fifth over 200 meters. In addition, he won the bronze medal behind South Africa and the Ivory Coast with the Zambian relay. In 2017 Siame qualified again for the World Championships in London and was eliminated there with 20.54 s in the semifinals . In 2018 he took part in the World Indoor Championships in Birmingham over 60 meters, but was eliminated there with 6.88 s in the first round. In April he finished fifth over 200 meters in 20.62 s at the Commonwealth Games in the Australian Gold Coast . He was then sixth at the African Championships in Asaba in 20.79 s and reached fourth place in the 4 x 400 meter relay in 3: 04.98 min. The following year he again took part in the Africa Games in Rabat , where he won over 200 meters in 20.35 s. He qualified for the World Championships in Doha , but retired there with 20.58 s in the preliminary round .
