Uroš Zupan

Uroš Zupan (born August 25, 1963 in Trbovlje ) is a Slovenian poet , essayist and translator .

Life

Zupan attended secondary school in Trbovlje. He studied comparative literature and sociology at the University of Ljubljana .

In 1996 he was for his poetry collection Odpiranje punched with the price of the Prešeren Foundation Award.

In 1999 he was awarded the Hubert Burda Prize for young Eastern European poetry .

In 2016, his volume of poems, Počasna plovba , which has been translated into Polish, was awarded the Wisława Szymborska Prize for the best translation.

He lives in Ljubljana .
