Iryna Hrihorivna Herashchenko ( Ukrainian Ірина Григо́рівна Геращенко , English transcription Iryna Herashchenko; born March 10, 1995 in Kiev ) is a Ukrainian high jumper .

Athletic career

In 2011 Iryna Herashchenko took part in the World Youth Championships in Lille and won the silver medal there with 1.87 m. In 2012 she finished seventh at the Junior World Championships in Barcelona with a skipped 1.87 m. In 2013 she qualified for the European Indoor Championships in Gothenburg , but dropped out there in the qualification. She also won the bronze medal at the Junior European Championships in Rieti . In 2014 she took part in the World Indoor Championships in Sopot , Poland , where she was eliminated again in the qualification. At the Junior World Championships in Oregon , she finished fifth in the final. Also at the European Championships in Zurich she could not qualify for the final.

In 2015 she was eliminated from the qualification at the European Indoor Championships in Prague and won the bronze medal at the U23 European Championships in Tallinn . She also qualified for the World Championships in Beijing and failed there in the qualifying round . In 2016 she was again unable to reach the field of the top twelve at the European Championships in Amsterdam . It took part in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where she finished tenth in the final . At the U23 European Championships 2017 in Bydgoszcz , Poland , she won the silver medal with 1.92 meters behind her compatriot Julija Levtschenko . In the summer of 2017, she was eliminated from the qualification at the World Championships in London with a height of 1.89 m . Two weeks later she won the silver medal at the Universiade in Taipei with 1.91 m .

In 2018 she qualified for the World Indoor Championships in Birmingham , where she finished seventh with 1.84 m. The following year she was fifth at the European Indoor Championships in Glasgow with 1.94 m and won the silver medal again with 1.91 m at the World Student Games in Naples , this time behind her compatriot Julija Tschumachenko .

In 2014, Herashchenko became the Ukrainian high jump indoor champion.
