Julija Andrijiwna Levtschenko ( Ukrainian Юлія Андріївна Левченко , English transcription Yuliya Levchenko; born November 28, 1997 in Kiev ) is a Ukrainian high jumper .

Athletic career

Julija Levtschenko gained her first international experience at the 2013 World Youth Championships in Donetsk , where she finished 13th with 1.70 m. In 2014 she won the gold medal at the Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing with a new personal best of 1.89 m. In 2015 she took part in the Junior European Championships in Eskilstuna and was sixth there with 1.83 m. She also qualified for the World Championships in Beijing and failed there in the qualifying round . At the U20 World Championships in 2016 in Bydgoszcz , Poland , she won the bronze medal with 1.86 m. She took part in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , but missed the final of the top twelve.

In 2017 she won the bronze medal at the European Indoor Championships with a new personal best of 1.94 m. At the U23 European Championships in Bydgoszcz, she won the gold medal in front of her compatriot Iryna Herashchenko with a new personal best of 1.96 meters . After several performance improvements at the Diamond League meeting, she qualified for the World Championships in London . There she increased her best to 2.01 m and won the silver medal behind the favored, independent starter, Marija Lassizkene . In 2018 she took part in the World Indoor Championships in Birmingham , where she finished fifth with just 1.89 m. In August she took part in the European Championships in Berlin for the first time and reached ninth place with a jump over 1.91 m in the final. The following year she crossed 1.99 m at the European Indoor Championships in Glasgow and thus won the silver medal behind Marija Lassizkene. She then defended her title at the U23 European Championships in Gävle with 1.97 m and improved to 2.02 m at The Match Europe v USA in Minsk in early September. At the World Championships in Doha a few weeks later, she jumped 2.00 m in the final and was fourth. At the end of October, she won the silver medal behind Lassizkene at the World Military Games in Wuhan with 1.92 m.

In 2018 and 2019 Levchenko became Ukrainian champion in high jump both outdoors and indoors.
