Louisa Gray Bird (* 28. September 1996 in Neunkirchen , Saarland ) is a German athlete , referring to the heptathlon specializes. But Grauvogel also competes in individual disciplines. Your particular strength is the hurdles .

career path

Grauvogel was at the Ottweiler grammar school and in 2011 switched to the sports grammar school am Rotenbühl in Saarbrücken , an elite school of sport that uses the facilities of the Hermann-Neuberger-Sportschule , to promote her athletic skills . In 2016, she graduated from high school there and began studying at the University of Georgia (UGA) on a full scholarship in September . Athletic career

Grauvogel had been active at her home club TV Ottweiler since she was four , where she did gymnastics and handball in addition to athletics , until she specialized in athletics in 2011.

In 2011 Grauvogel became German W15 champion at the German student MK / block all-around championships in the Cottbus sports center with a new Saarland record of 3981 points in the heptathlon and also broke the 22-year-old student record in the 80m hurdles with 11.56 seconds. Grauvogel was also the South German champion of the W15 pupils in the heptathlon and over 300 meter hurdles and won the runner-up championship in long jump, javelin throw and over 100 meters. In total, she set five Saarland records: in the heptathlon, with more than 200 points over the ten-year-old record, over 80 meter hurdles, 300 meters, 300 meter hurdles and in the block competition.

In 2012 Grauvogel took first place with 5289 points in the all-around qualification of the DLV in Mannheim , but had to break off her U18 heptathlon due to injury at the German all- around championships in Hanover . With 5289 points at the end of the year she led the German annual top list of the U20 in the heptathlon.

In 2013 Grauvogel came in 6th place in the German indoor all-around championships in the pentathlon in the age group U18. With a new German U18 record of 5692 points, she qualified in the heptathlon for the U18 World Championships in Donetsk ( Ukraine ), where she took 3rd place. Grauvogel won the first medal for the Saarland Athletics Association at the U18 World Cup, and with 5581 points she was only 9 points short of the silver medal. With 5692 points in the international heptathlon (with 200 m) Grauvogel was at the end of the year in the German annual best list of the U18 in second place and in 11th place in the German annual best list of women.

In 2014, Grauvogel took 3rd place in the German Indoor All-Around Championships in the pentathlon in the U20 age group and came in 5th place with 5621 points in the heptathlon at the U20 World Championships in Eugene (Oregon) . With Eugene's 5621 points, Grauvogel was second in the German U20's annual best list and 11th in the German women's annual best list.

In 2015, Grauvogel set personal bests already during the qualifying rounds in Kreuztal and Bernhausen for the U20 European Championships in Eskilstuna ( Sweden ), where she then won bronze in the heptathlon. Over the 800 meters she ran another best time in Sweden in 2: 17.42 minutes. With his personal best of 5747 points in Bernhausen, Grauvogel was second in the German annual best list of the U20 and ranked 9th in the German annual best list of women.

As of 2016, Grauvogel belonged to the U23 age group, in which there are no world or European championships, and so she was able to concentrate on her Abitur. With her 5682 points at the all- around meeting in Marburg on May 21st and 22nd, Grauvogel was at the end of the year in the German annual best list of the U23 on rank 2 and on rank 8 of the German annual top list of women. During her studies abroad since September, she competed in numerous competitions with the college team of the University of Georgia (UGA).

2017 came gray bird as a freshman in the indoor season at the Arkansas Razorback Indoor Invitational in January in Fayetteville (Arkansas) with 3,956 points in the pentathlon to 4th place in February with seasonal best of 4187 points at the SEC Indoor Track & Field Championships in Tennessee on 5th place. She exceeded her own Saarland record for women in the indoor pentathlon of 3860 points. In April she took second place in the heptathlon at the Spec Towns Invitational and Bulldog Heptathlon / Decathlon at her place of study in Athens (Georgia) with a personal best of 5616 points. In May Grauvogel reached 5th place with 5595 points at the SEC Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Knoxville (Tennessee) . During the holidays she competed in Germany. Grauvogel became German U23 champion in the 100 meter hurdles and took 5th place in this discipline at the German championships , her first national title fight among the active players. With 5616 points she was in the German annual best list of the U23 at the end of the year on rank 5 and on rank 9 of the German annual top list of women.

In 2018 Grauvogel took second place as a sophomore in the indoor season at the Arkansas Razorback Indoor Invitational at the end of January in Fayetteville (Arkansas) with a personal best of 4235 points in the pentathlon. In doing so, she not only set three personal indoor best performances, over 60 meter hurdles (8.30 s), in the high jump (1.72 m) and over 800 meters (2: 19.56 min), but also a new Saarland indoor record in pentathlon . Barely four weeks later, on February 24th, Grauvogel surpassed this record with 4312 points at the SEC Indoor Track & Field Championships in College Station ( Texas ), where she finished second. A little later, on March 9th, Grauvogel came in 5th place at the NCAA indoor championships in the same place, where she had increased by a further six points to 4,318 points. On April 6, she set another Saarland record at her place of study in Athens (Georgia) when she set Jenna Pletsch's national record from 2010 at 16 in 13.16 seconds over 100 meters at the heptathlon opener at the Spec Towns Invitational and Bulldog Heptathlon / Decathlon Hundredths undercut. Grauvogel also ended the heptathlon the following day with a Saarland record by exceeding Andrea Breder's 32-year record by 108 points with 5,887 points . In the competition she won all seven disciplines and had five best performances, and the 5887 points represent the fourth highest value of the UGA. At the all- around meeting in Halle (Saale) there was a further increase to 6053 points. At the all- around meeting in Ratingen she came in 4th place and improved in the heptathlon to 6162 points. At the German Championships in Nuremberg , Grauvogel took 4th place over 100 meter hurdles. On the final day of the heptathlon at the European Championships in Berlin , she and her heptathlon colleague Mareike Arndt got into a traffic accident on the way back to the hotel, which is why they were both unable to contest the final 800-meter run .

With a height of 1.73 m, the gray bird has a competition weight of 59 kg.
