In West Germany , German indoor all- round athletics championships were held for the first time in 1973 and then in the following two years. They did not take place from 1976 to 2002. They have been carried out annually since 2003. The number of disciplines for men varied between five and eight over the years. For women, the number of disciplines stayed the same, but they changed over time.
The female athletes play pentathlons and male heptathletes, both adults and youngsters A (U20) and B (U18).
The organizer is the German Athletics Association (DLV) . Organizers are the regional association belonging to the venue and a sports club at the venue.
At the all-around championships at that time, these were not always held as separate events, but the all-around champions were also determined as part of the indoor athletics championships.
A list of the DLV and DVfL all-around champions in the hall can be found here .
