The Athletics Hall in Hamburg is a Sport - training hall in Hamburg-Winterhude , right next to the Sporthalle Hamburg . After almost 50 years of several planning approaches (including 1986 and 1992), the final foundation stone was not laid until April 4, 2003, which in turn was followed by an idle phase lasting more than 1 ½ years until the actual start of construction in February 2005. The design and construction supervision was carried out by the architects Markovic, Ronai, Lütjen and Voss. The building owner was the authority for education and sport. The commissioning took place on November 4, 2006, the official opening ceremony on November 29, 2006. Despite its conception as a training hall, it is used for competitions, among other things. a. in January 2009 for the German indoor all-around championships.

Dimensions: 131 m × 49 m, 6,500 square meters of floor space.

Equipment of the hall:

  • a 200 m circular track with four tracks and banked curves
  • a 60 m course with eight lanes
  • three long / triple jump facilities
  • two high jump facilities
  • two pole vault facilities
  • Shot put devices
  • a long sprint straight outside the circular track, on which runs up to 100 m flat or 110 m over hurdles are possible
  • a strength range in which strength training can be linked directly to sprint / jump training

Since it is a training hall, there are only a few grandstands and spectator facilities.
