Gudaf Tsegay Desta (born January 23, 1997 ) is an Ethiopian middle and long distance runner who specializes in the 1500 meter run .

Athletic career

Gudaf Tsegay gained her first international experience at the 2014 Indoor World Championships in Sopot , where she finished fourth in 4: 11.83 minutes. Then she won the silver medal at the Junior World Championships in Eugene in 4: 10.83 minutes. Two years later she won the bronze medal at the World Indoor Championships in Portland in 4: 05.71 minutes behind the Dutchwoman Sifan Hassan and her compatriot Dawit Seyaum . In the 800-meter run , she qualified for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where she was eliminated in the first round with 2: 00.13 minutes . In 2017 she took part in the 1500 meter World Championships in London and made it to the semi-finals , where she fell after just under 400 meters and was eliminated in 4: 22.01 minutes.
