Andrea Michelle Purica Guevara (born November 21, 1995 ) is a Venezuelan sprinter .

Athletic career

For the first time at an international championship, Andrea Purica took part in the Juegos Bolivarianos in Trujillo and took sixth place over 100 meters. In 2014 she took part with the Venezuelan 4 x 100 meter relay at the IAAF World Relays 2014 in the Bahamas and was eliminated there in the heats. This was followed by eighth place over 100 meters at the Junior World Championships in Eugene . At the U23 South American Championships in Montevideo , she won gold over 100 meters, silver with the relay and took fifth place over 200 meters. She then took part in the Central America and Caribbean Games (CAC) in Xalapa , where she won gold in the relay and in the individual competition.

In 2015 she took third place in the B final of the 2015 IAAF World Relays . At the Pan American Games in Toronto , she was eliminated over 100 meters in the run and was able to classify herself in fifth place with the relay. With her performance, she also qualified for the World Championships in Beijing , where she was eliminated in the preliminary round over 100 meters. In 2016 she won the bronze medal with the Venezuelan relay at the Ibero-American Championships and was eliminated in the individual competition in the qualifying round.

In 2017 she took part in the South American Championships in Luque , where she won the bronze medal over 100 meters. With the season she was eliminated in the final. At the World Championships in London , she took part over 100 meters and was eliminated in the preliminary round . In November she won the bronze medal in the individual competition at the Juegos Bolivarianos in Santa Marta with 11.53 seconds as well as gold with the Venezuelan relay. The following year she retired at the World Indoor Championships in Birmingham with 7.36 s in the first round and won in 44.71 s with the relay at the South American Games in Cochabamba . In addition, she finished fourth there over 100 meters in 11.26 s. Then she won the bronze medal behind the Jamaican Jonielle Smith and Khalifa St. Fort from Trinidad and Tobago at the CAC Games in Barranquilla in 11.32 s . With the relay she reached sixth place in 45.71 s.

In 2019, she won the silver medal over 100 meters at the South American Championships in Lima in 11.24 seconds and also in the 200 meter run in 23.37 seconds . Both times she only had to admit defeat to the Brazilian Vitória Cristina Rosa .

In 2013 Purica became the Venezuelan champion in the 100-meter run.
