final

August 24, 2015, 9:35 p.m. (3:35 p.m. CEST )
Wind: −0.3 m / s

The clear favorite was the reigning world and Olympic champion of 2008 and 2012 Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce from Jamaica. The strongest competitors after the semi-finals were the Dutch Dafne Schippers, who had switched from heptathlon to the sprint , and the American Tori Bowie. This semifinal was of high quality. For example, Vice World Champion Murielle Ahouré from Ivory Coast was eliminated despite a time of less than eleven seconds. The Nigerian Blessing Okagbare, the Jamaican Veronica Campbell-Brown and Kelly-Ann Baptiste from Trinidad and Tobago also presented themselves strongly there with times of 10.90 s or faster.

In the final, the small, quick-to-start Fraser-Pryce came out of the blocks the best and had a clear lead from the start, which she never gave up and thus became world champion again. She achieved an excellent 10.76 seconds. Behind her, Baptiste, Campbell-Brown, Baptiste, Bowie and Michelle Ahye, five runners ran towards the finish line almost on a par. But after a weak start, Schippers stormed past these five and became vice world champion. In 10.81 s she improved her Dutch national record from the semifinals by two hundredths of a second. In the battle for bronze, Bowie prevailed against her opponents from Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago in 10.86 seconds. Campbell-Brown finished fourth, ahead of Aye. Baptiste took sixth place ahead of Morrison and Okagbare.
