Crystal Emmanuel (born November 27, 1991 in Scarborough ) is a Canadian sprinter .

Athletic career

Crystal Emmanuel gained her first international experience at the Pan American Junior Championships 2009 in Port of Spain , where she finished fourth in the 100-meter run in 11.59 s and was disqualified with the Canadian 4-by-100-meter relay. The following year she took part in the Junior World Championships in Moncton and was eliminated there in 23.96 s in the semi-finals over 200 meters. In addition, she finished sixth with the relay in 44.84 s. In 2012 she won the bronze medal over 100 meters at the U23 NACAC championships in Irapuato in 11.43 s. In the 200-meter run , she qualified for the Olympic Games inLondon , where she was eliminated in the semifinals with 23.28 s . At the World Athletics Championships in Moscow in 2013 she was disqualified in the individual competition over 200 meters and took sixth place in the relay in 43.28 s. She then won the Francophonie Games in Nice in 23.63 s and finished fourth in the season in 45.66 s.

At the IAAF World Relays 2014 in the Bahamas , the Canadians won the B final in 43.33 seconds. Then she reached the semi-finals at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow over 100 and 200 meters and was fourth in the relay in 43.33 s. At the IAAF World Relays 2015 , the relay reached fourth place in 42.85 s. At the Pan American Games in Toronto she was eliminated in the semifinals with 11.26 s and won the bronze medal behind the United States and Jamaica in 43.00 s with the relay. At the World Championships in Beijing she was disqualified in the 100 and 200 meters each in advance and assigned the relay in 43.05 s sixth . The following year, she participated in the World Indoor Championships in Portland , where she was eliminated in the 60-meter run in 7.23 s in the semifinals. At the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , she was eliminated from the 100-meter run in the first round and reached the semi-finals over 200 meters. In addition, she finished seventh in the season in 43.15 s in the final .

In 2017 she was eliminated in the first round at the World Relays with 44.98 s . At the World Championships in London she was eliminated in the semi-finals with 11.14 s and seventh in the 200-meter run in 22.60 s . In 2018 she reached the semi-finals again at the World Indoor Championships in Birmingham , where she was eliminated with 7.27 seconds. In early April, she finished fifth in 22.70 s at the Commonwealth Games in the Australian Gold Coast . At the NACAC Championships in Toronto in the summer , she won the bronze medal over 100 meters in 11.11 s, as well as with the 4-by-100-meter relay in 43.50 s. At the Pan American Games in Lima in 2019 , she competed in three disciplines. Over 100 meters she took seventh place with 11.41 seconds, over 200 meters she just missed the podium in 22.89 seconds in fourth. Just a few hours after the 200-meter final, she won the silver medal behind Brazil with Canada's 4-by-100-meter relay. Previously, she was disqualified at the World Relays in Yokohama with the 4-by-100-meter relay in the run-up. Over 100 and 200 meters she also qualified for the World Championships in Doha , where she was eliminated in the semifinals over 100 meters with 11.29 s , as well as over 200 meters with 22.65 s.

In 2011, 2013 and 2014 and from 2016 to 2019, Emmanuel was Canadian champion in the 100-meter run and in 2011 and 2012 and from 2016 to 2018 over 200 meters. Her mother Rosalind Emmanuel was also active as a track and field athlete for Barbados .
