Nediam Vargas Arteaga (born September 5, 1994 ) is a Venezuelan sprinter .

Athletic career

For the first time at an international championship, Nediam Vargas took part in the World Youth Championships in Lille and was eliminated there over 100 meters in the preliminary run. In 2014 she took part with the Venezuelan 4 x 100 meter relay at the IAAF World Relays 2014 in the Bahamas and was eliminated there in the heats. At the U23 South American Championships in Montevideo , she finished fourth over 100 and 200 meters and won silver with the relay. She then took part in the Central America and Caribbean Games in Xalapa , where she won gold with the relay and silver over 100 meters and took sixth place over 200 meters.

In 2015, she took third place in the B-final at the 2015 IAAF World Relays and was eliminated in the 4 x 400 meter relay in the preliminary run. At the South American Championships in Lima she won gold over 100 meters and with the Venezuelan relay as well as bronze over 200 meters. At the Pan American Games in Toronto she was eliminated in both sprints in the preliminary run and was able to classify herself in fifth place with the relay. As the reigning continental champion, she received a bye for the World Championships in Beijing and was eliminated in the preliminary round over 100 meters.

In 2017 she took part in the South American Championships in Luque , where she won the bronze medal over 200 meters. She finished fifth over 100 meters and was eliminated from the season in the finals. At the World Championships in London , she took part in over 200 meters and was eliminated in the preliminary round . In November she won the gold medal with the Venezuelan relay at the Juegos Bolivarianos in Santa Marta .
