final

August 29, 2015, 7:50 PM local time (1:50 PM CEST )

The German Robert Harting , who was victorious in almost all major international championships from 2009, had to drop out of these world championships due to injury. But there were strong throwers at the start. Among the favorites were mainly of Poles Piotr Małachowski - Vice World Champion in 2009 and 2013 / European Champion of 2010 , the Estonian Gerd Kanter - the Olympic champion in 2008 , Olympic third of 2012, Vice World Champion in 2011 and European Vice Champion of 2012 / 2014 , the Iranian Olympic silver medalist from 2012, World Cup third from 2011 Ehsan Hadadi and the Polish EC third from 2014 Robert Urbanek. Hadadi was already eliminated in the qualification with two invalid attempts after a weaker first throw.

In lap one Malachowski took the lead with 65.09 m ahead of Kanter - 64.82 m. With his second litter, Malachowski increased to 67.40 m and thus secured his lead for the first time. The Cypriot Apostolos Parellis reached 64.55 m, with which he was third in the intermediate ranking. With 64.38 m, the Belgian Philip Milanov improved to fourth place. In his subsequent third attempt, Milanov even set a new Belgian national record with 66.90 m, which brought him second place before the final of the eight best throwers. Behind that, too, there were further increases and overall the battle for the medals was close. Kanter was now third with his 64.82 m from the first round. Parellis followed - 64.55 m from round two, the Swede Daniel Ståhl threw 64.42 m in his third attempt, which was fifth. The Jamaican Fedrick Dacres was sixth with 64.42 m from round one. Urbanek, who now reached 64.14 m, came in seventh. The German Christoph Harting, brother of the missing Robert Harting, followed in eighth with 63.94 m.

There were further postponements in the fourth round. Urbanek threw 64.62 m and was fourth behind Kanter. But Ståhl pushed himself between the two with 64.73 m. Urbanek rose again to 65.18 m with his fifth litter, displacing Kanter from the bronze rank he had held since round one. In the last round, Harting, up to then eighth, had a long throw, but it was invalidated. Harting complained to the jury, but the score remained. Viewing the video of this litter clearly shows that this decision was correct. The German had crossed the edge of the litter twice. Otherwise there were no more changes, the decision had been made.

Piotr Malachowski became world champion ahead of the surprise runner-up Philip Milanov. Robert Urbanek had secured bronze in round five, he was 36 centimeters ahead of Gerd Kanter in fourth place. Daniel Ståhl was only nine centimeters behind in fifth. Eighteen centimeters behind Ståhl was Apostolos Parellis, who was 33 centimeters ahead of seventh-placed Fedrick Dacres. Christoph Harting was also not far behind Dacres, thirty centimeters behind. In the end, only 1.24 meters separated the third from the eighth.
