Vikas Gowda ( Vikas Shive Gowda; born July 5, 1983 in Mysore ) is an Indian discus thrower who was also active in the shot put at the beginning of his career .

In the discus throw at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, he was eliminated in qualification.

In 2005 he failed in the discus throw at the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki in the preliminary round and won silver at the Asian Athletics Championships. At the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, he was fifth in the shot put and sixth in the discus throw. Now concentrating entirely on the discus throw, he did not get beyond the preliminary round at the 2007 World Cup in Osaka and the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.

In 2010 he won silver at the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi and bronze at the Asian Games in Guangzhou . The following year, a silver medal at the Asian Championships was followed by a seventh place at the World Championships in Daegu .

At the 2012 Olympic Games in London, he finished eighth. In 2013 he won the Asian Championships and was again seventh at the World Cup in Moscow . In 2014 he won the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and won silver at the Asian Games in Incheon . In 2015 he defended his title at the Asian Championships.
