final
August 26, 2015, 8:10 pm local time (2:10 pm CEST )
The Czech defending champion and Olympic third party from 2012 Zuzana Hejnová had already set the fastest time in the semifinals and was one of the favorites for this competition. However, she had to pause due to an injury and nobody knew exactly what she was capable of. Other favorites included the reigning European champion Eilidh Child from Great Britain, the semi-finals strong runners Cassandra Tate from the United States, Sara Petersen from Denmark and Kaliese Spencer from Jamaica, also Olympic gold medalists in 2012.
In the final, the runners lay close together for a long time. Hejnová was the first to come out of the target curve. The two Americans Tate and Shamier Little followed closely behind. But the gaps to the runners-up were still close, nothing had been decided yet. On the home stretch, Zuzana Hejnová had the greatest stamina. She crossed the finish line with a lead of more than four tenths of a second and was world champion again. In the battle for second place, Shamier Little beat third-placed Cassandra Tate with eight hundredths of a second. Just under two tenths of a second behind, Sara Petersen crossed the finish line in fourth. Then the gaps got a bit bigger. Jamaican Janieve Russell finished fifth ahead of Eilidh Child and South African Wenda Nel. Kaliese Spencer finished eighth.
