Ristananna Tracey (born May 9, 1992 in Kingston ) is a Jamaican hurdler who specializes in the 400-meter distance and is also used in the 4-by-400-meter relay because of her sprinting strength . At the beginning of her career, she mainly competed in the 800-meter run .
Athletic career
Ristananna Tracey gained her first international experience at the CARIFTA Games 2008 in Basseterre , where she won the silver medal in the 800 meter run in 2: 13.77 minutes, as well as at the games the following year in Vieux Fort in 2:10 , 08 min. She then took part in the World Youth Championships in Bressanone , where she finished eighth in the 400-meter hurdles in 62.90 seconds. In addition, she was fifth in the sprint relay (1000 meters) in 2: 09.79 min. In 2010 she won the hurdles in 58.58 s, as well as with the Jamaican 4 x 400 meter relay at the CARIFTA Games in George Town . At the Central American and Caribbean Junior Championships (CAC) in Santo Domingo , she also won both disciplines. Then she was at the Junior World Championships in Moncton in 57.77 s fifth. The following year she qualified for the first time for the World Championships in Daegu , where she was eliminated in the semifinals with 55.55 s, as well as at the World Championships in Moscow two years later with 55.43 s.
In 2015 she participated in the Pan American Games in Toronto , where she was eliminated with 58.62 s in the first round. At the subsequent World Championships in Beijing , she did not make it to the semifinals with 57.60 seconds . The following year she took part in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro and was there in 54.15 s in the final fifth. At the IAAF World Relays 2017 in the Bahamas , she finished third in the mixed 4 x 400 meter relay in 3: 20.26 minutes. In August she won the bronze medal behind the two Americans Kori Carter and Dalilah Muhammad at the World Championships in London with 53.74 seconds in the final . The following year she was eighth in 57.50 s at the Commonwealth Games in the Gold Coast, Australia .
In 2013 and 2016, Tracey became the Jamaican champion in the 400 meter hurdles.
